Caorle

Useful information

Caorle

Caorle is a coastal town in northern Italy, located between the mouths of the Livenza and Lemene rivers. It is located on the Adriatic Sea between the two tourist towns of Eraclea and Bibione and is about 75 km from Venice

It is a great destination for a family holiday, a relaxing break or a stopover by the sea.

Caorle is a coastal town with a population of about 11,000. Caorle is not particularly well-known to English-speaking travelers. Most of the summer visitors here are Italian or from Austria, Germany and Eastern Europe. However, English is widely used in tourism businesses as a lingua franca, and German is also common.

If you don't like crowds, late spring or early summer (May-June) is the ideal time to visit Caorle. Autumn is also quieter.

History and Geography of Caorle
Before Caorle was a holiday resort, it was a fishing port, and although tourism is now the most prominent activity, fishing is still important. The fishing port, Porto Peschereccio, behind the town centre, is lined with working fishing boats. Seafood and catches from the inland waterways are a speciality that you will find in most of the town's restaurants, and there is also a public fish market that you may want to visit if you are preparing your own food or are just curious.
