Bad Hofgastein ski resort
Bad Hofgastein lies in one of the more open and sunnier parts of the Gasteinertal, where the valley widens before rising into the neighboring resort of Bad Gastein.

Schlossalm - Angertal - Stubnerkogel
860 - 2,300 m above sea level
The Bad Hofgastein ski area is on the Schlossalm and reaches an altitude of 2300 m on the western side of the valley. It is connected to the Bad Gastein ski resort via the Angertal ski resort.

Like its more famous neighbor to the south, Bad Hofgastein is a spa town with thermal baths and an extensive ski area. But the destination itself is more of a traditional Austrian resort style, rather than the more historic and urban setting of Bad Gastein.

Altitude: 857 meters

Gastein Ski Region
The four ski slopes are located at an altitude between 860m and 2,650m. All four ski areas are connected by a ski bus, which is free for ski pass holders.

Central ski resort SCHLOSSALM-ANGERTAL-STUBNERKOGEL
It is the largest connected ski resort in Gastein, connecting Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein. It offers 87 km of ski trails of all categories. Slopes with a height difference of more than 1,000 m promise diverse fun on the track and are perfectly connected with modern skiing equipment. Ideal for your skiing pleasures! For beginners, we recommend the training center Gasti Snowpark in the Angertal valley. Ski fun awaits you at the Funslope and Ride at Ease in the Gastein Snow Park.

Ski resort SPORTGASTEIN
Adrenaline-seeking freeriders and off-piste skiers will come to their senses at the Sportgastein ski resort, which offers 20 km of ski trails.
It is located at the end of the Gastein valley, only 10 km from the center of Bad Gastein.

Ski resort DORFGASTEIN/GROSSARL
The family ski resort Dorfgastein-Großarl is located at the beginning of the Gastein valley, 8 km before Bad Hofgastein. The ski area connects Dorfgastein and Grossarl in the neighboring valley and offers more than 60 km of ski tracks.

Ski resort GRAUKOGEL
The ski area is located on the western side of Bad Gastein and offers more than 10 km of ski slopes. It is accessible from the town by ski bus and is not connected to the SCHLOSSALM-ANGERTAL-STUBNERKOGEL system.

City description and history:
Bad Gastein (formerly Badgastein) is a spa and winter sports resort with 3,990 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Gastein Valley, in the district of St. Johann im Pongau, in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It is picturesquely located in the high valley of the Visoke Tura mountain range, it is known for the Gasten waterfall and various hotel buildings from the Belle Époque period.

Bad Hofgastein was originally the main administrative town, market and court (hence the Hof in the name) in the Gastein Valley.

The location was one of the reasons - it was located on an important trade route through Austria between Northern Europe and Italy. Another important mining industry was in the mountains around the settlement.

As the minerals ran out, the town declined until the thermal baths flourished in the 19th century (along with the more 'adventurous' radon pools). The ski area was opened in the late 1940s and has since been expanded and connected to the neighboring Bad Gastein area.

Most of the hotel accommodation can be found around the center of the pedestrianized village, but there are also some in smaller hamlets up and down the valley.
