Riegersburg is considered the largest castle in Styria and is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the country. As an impregnable fortress, it stands high on a rock and is not for nothing one of the most popular attractions in the region. Thanks to its impressive fortifications and unique location, the castle was once one of the strongest fortresses in the West that was never conquered. Here you can experience history. You can easily visit the three museums on your own or with one of our exciting guided tours. Immerse yourself in a completely different world and learn a lot about life in the castle, marvel at the beautiful rooms, learn a lot about witches and try out weapons.
Birds of Prey Observatory
Since 1988, the Bird of Prey Observatory in Riegersburg has set itself the goal of emphasizing the concept of humane and species-appropriate animal husbandry. Not hundreds, but a maximum of 30 birds of prey. Their motto is less is more and this is for the well-being of our animals. We give all and every bird of prey the opportunity to fly freely several times a day (up to 5 hours a day).
The Bird Observatory offers demonstrations of birds of prey flying. Experience the kings of the sky in their daring flight maneuvers, flying close to the heads, elegantly gliding through the air or breathtaking dives from hundreds of meters at top speeds of up to 300 km/h towards prey. You can see something special, birds of prey that you have never seen before, or flight maneuvers that you previously thought were impossible. It is a magnificent display of birds of prey. The center has set itself the goal of allowing the audience to experience the world of predators directly and up close.
