Turquoise blue, 2.2 square kilometers in size and up to 30 meters deep, Lake Faaker See is the fifth largest lake in Carinthia and one of the most popular bathing lakes in Austria. It lies south of Villach and the Drava and gets its stunning turquoise blue color from the Vorounitza tributary: it supplies the lake with small particles of lime that reflect the sunlight in turquoise blue.
Lake Faaker See is a popular destination for both swimmers and water sports enthusiasts: several beaches stretch along the shore, including sunbathing areas, restaurants, the longest water slide in Carinthia (on the Drobollach), tennis courts and mini golf courses.
